Get more muscle growth by stretching? Science says it works. Here's how.

One specific example of this is the squat. You may have seen pro athletes (most famously, Lebron James), doing partial range of motion squats because they think it will have better “carry over” to jumping. “You only do a partial squat before jumping, so doing a partial squat is closer to the specific task of jumping” is the argument. 

I see why some may think this, but it’s been debunked by research (2, 3). Full ROM performs better than partials for athletic performance, strength gain, and hypertrophy.
